Waking up early. I used to (and still do) wake up early. Those early morning hours are filled with productivity, help, and getting the day "started." What did this look like for me pre-baby and post baby?

Pre Baby

When I lived in NYC, I had an extremely structured routine for myself that was quite vigorous and just a lot, to the point where I constantly wore a watch to track train schedules, timing, and alerts.

5:30 AM - Wake up, get dressed, get ready, and head out the door

6:05 AM - Get on the train to head into NYC

6:50 AM - In the gym to do a 45-50 minute workout

7:30 AM - Depending on when the class ended, it was in the shower, makeup, hair, changed, and ready for the day

8:30 AM - In the office, working on a variety of tasks all day long

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM - Lunch time varied, but around that time depending on what was going on with work

5:00 PM - Out the door and walking toward a train, whether it was to an event, happy hour, dinner, or any other fun activity in NYC

6:00 PM - Home, dinner, laundry, packing my bag for the next day

6:00 PM - (If I went out) Dinner, Happy Hour, event, etc.

9-10 PM - Typically bed time depending on what time I came home. Bag packed in front of my door, prepared to tackle the next day

Post Baby

Now that I have a little AND I moved to Charleston SC AND I have my own business, life looks a lot different than back in my NYC days. Here is my typical(ish) day now:

3:30 AM - Awake and on my phone answering any pending emails

4:20 AM - Up and getting ready for the gym

5:00 AM - Gym class until 5:50 AM

6:00 AM - Home to shower, laundry, dishes, cleaning etc

7:30 AM - Husband leaves for the day so then it is baby + me

7:30 AM to 5:00 PM - A variety of meetings, tasks, baby naps, feedings, changes, etc

5:30 PM - Baby is in the bath ready for bath, bottle, and bed by 6:00 PM

6:00 PM to 8:30 PM - Dinner, sometimes dishes, sometimes cleaning, putting laundry away, spending time with my husband, and ultimately SLEEP

When it comes to the "variety" of tasks, here is what I mean:

  • Business: Phone calls with clients, delegating tasks on Slack, in QBO for quality control, Updating all of my software accordingly
  • Baby: Diaper stations changed, formula station cleaned, boiled water constantly going, walks with the baby + dog, clean clothes for the baby (to name a few)

What does your schedule look like now as a mom vs. prior to being a mom?
